Why most training programs fail to make the desired impact?
Most corporate trainers today adopt a number of methods to achieve their objective. They start off with an ice-breaker, play a number of games, pepper the session with humour, use videos, PPTs and other electronic media to keep the audience interested. In fact, many trainers even acknowledge that the audience loved their session.
But they are puzzled as to why the organisation does not ask for them again!
These trainers fail to make their participants see that the training session was not meant as a “break from routine work”. It was a serious business enterprise to get people to perform even better at work.
So if performances have not improved, the training is certainly considered a failure! (However enjoyable the session may have been)
What is it that is missing in these training sessions?
B ehaviour A ttitude T hinking:
BAT your way into creating the people advantage!
Routine “outside-in training” fails to bring about top performances owing to a total neglect of addressing people's attitudes that stem from their underlying dreams, wishes and personal aspirations. These trainings only lend knowledge and skills on the surface which is not absorbed by the participants.
What you instead need to do is inspire a change from within the individual through a unique process of “inside-out training” aimed to bring about long-lasting improvements in performance. Human Behaviour is essentially caught from the environment and cannot be changed unless you address the thought and attitude behind the action. Only then can you witness desirable behaviour such as initiative, ownership, flexibility, effective team work etc from people.
In fact, the only pathway that guarantees enhanced performance through the “inside-out” process is the BAT route to Training & Development!
Ordinary trainings only lend information on the conscious level which fails to be put into practice or internalised. Such trainings are bound to be a failure. Only by tackling the BAT can one bring about alterations in the subconscious level of thinking, thus resulting in deep rooted performance improvement. |
